Location: Eora Country — Sydney, New South Wales.
Dylan’s inspiration: After travelling and living in the U.K and Europe for many years, my wife and I returned to the Gold Coast to save for our next big adventure. It didn’t take long till we were lured down south to the big smoke — Sydney — finding work in some of the city’s top restaurants and putting in long hours. Whilst working in The Rocks for several years, I’d take breaks up on Observatory Hill and look out over the enchanting view. My mind would often wonder about stories of travellers past and present who’ve made the same pilgrimage to the land of “Milk and Honey”.
Carlene’s inspiration: I lived in Sydney for 6-months when I was 18-years old. It was one of the gutsiest decisions of my life moving from Brisbane with little money, nowhere to live, no job, not even a car — but I had youth and a sense of adventure on my side. The Rocks was my favourite place to visit as something about it always felt like a warm hug. Its historic laneways were safe yet sophisticated, and you could easily imagine what life would have looked like on these streets 100-years ago. This scene provides comfort in knowing that while some things change, others remain the same.
A collaboration between Left Bank Art Group Brand Ambassador, Carlene Duffy, and Northern New South Wales artist, Dylan Cooper; the Feels Like Home Collection draws its creative inspiration from nostalgic national glimpses reimagined for the modern day. The limited edition print collection depicts a series of iconic Australian scenes that truly capture the spirit of a shared social soul. The eight recognisable locations were handpicked by Carlene and Dylan as to their overall popularity and associated potential to connect with a broad Australian audience.
