Location: Djadjawurung Country — Daylesford, Victoria.
Dylan’s inspiration: I really wanted to capture the rich colours of this amazing part of Australia and what better scene to paint than the man-made lake with the iconic, red-roofed Boathouse Café. I’ve exaggerated the colour palette to give a tonal feeling of winter months and ideally would like the collector to be transported to the scene evoking a state of fond familiarity and warm memories.
Carlene’s inspiration: This is a place I’ve always coveted but am yet to visit. For many Victorians, Daylesford is a sweet escape; a big exhale; an invitation to slow down. The lake — flanked by lush greenery and a scattering of heritage houses — is incredibly alluring and only ignites my desire to visit even more. I hope when people look at this piece it reminds them to relax and reset when they need to.
A collaboration between Left Bank Art Group Brand Ambassador, Carlene Duffy, and Northern New South Wales artist, Dylan Cooper; the Feels Like Home Collection draws its creative inspiration from nostalgic national glimpses reimagined for the modern day. The limited edition print collection depicts a series of iconic Australian scenes that truly capture the spirit of a shared social soul. The eight recognisable locations were handpicked by Carlene and Dylan as to their overall popularity and associated potential to connect with a broad Australian audience. Even if you’ve never lived in any of the locales, you know you’ve seen them somewhere, somehow, evoking an intuitive sense of familiarity — a family getaway way back when perhaps?
